«Marqués de Sade: Una vida» is the biography written by Francine du Plessix Gray, published by Vergara Editor S.A., in paperback (508 pages, Spanish).
The author portrays Donatien Alphonse François de Sade beyond the myth: nobleman, soldier, husband and father, a man who spent much of his life in prison for his sexual transgressions and the influence of his mother-in-law. The work analyzes his powerful erotic imagination, trapped between his body and his era, and separates fact from legend.
Biography originally published in English as «At Home with the Marquis de Sade: A Life» in 1998.
For readers of historical biographies and of eighteenth-century France, interested in knowing the man behind the legend.
