In 'Matrix', Lauren Groff introduces us to Maria de France, an indomitable and rebellious woman who is expelled from Eleanor of Aquitaine's court and sent to England to lead an impoverished abbey. In this challenging environment, Maria finds in the communal life with the nuns, nature, and a series of mystical visions, the strength to face a hostile world. This sensual and epic novel explores themes such as sexuality, female friendship, and collective power in a world dominated by men.
