«Mein Jahrhundert» is Günter Grass's collection of stories published by Dtv in paperback (383 pages, in German).
A hundred stories, one for each year of the twentieth century, give voice to witnesses of different class, age and ideology: people who do not make history but live and suffer it. Their anecdotes, everyday or unusual, reflect wars, technical advances, persecutions and hopes, forming a mosaic of German and European experience.
The work originally appeared in 1999, the year Günter Grass received the Nobel Prize in Literature.
For readers of contemporary German literature and historical fiction focused on the twentieth century.
Günter Wilhelm Grass was a German novelist, poet, playwright, illustrator, graphic artist, sculptor, and recipient of the 1999 Nobel Prize in Literature.
