«Muerte en verano» is a crime novel by Benjamin Black, published by Alfaguara in hardcover (304 pages, in Spanish).
In 1950s Dublin, Dr. Quirke and Inspector Hackett investigate the death of press magnate Richard Jewel. What seems like suicide turns out to be murder: the investigation leads Quirke to the orphanage of his childhood and brings him into contact with the victim's sister, a rival businessman and the enigmatic widow.
Fourth installment in the Quirke series; Benjamin Black is a pseudonym of John Banville and the translation is by Nuria Barrios from the original A Death in Summer (2011).
For fans of crime fiction; can be read without knowing the previous installments of the Quirke series.
William John Banville is an Irish novelist, adapter of dramas, and screenwriter. A former member of Aosdána, he voluntarily relinquished the financial stipend in 2001 to another, more impoverished, writer.
