«Nariz de Serpiente» is a children's story by Carmelo Salmerón, published by Editorial Everest in paperback (48 pages, in Spanish).
An elephant arrives on an island of monkeys who, not knowing him, think he is dangerous and reject him: they take his trunk for a snake. His attempts at friendship clash with the monkeys' fear until an accident turns him into a hero. Then they realize they had judged him only by appearances. With humor and warmth, it speaks of coexistence and acceptance of difference.
