«O Quarto de Jack» is the novel by Emma Donoghue, published by 11x17 in 2014 in paperback (405 pages, in Portuguese).
Five-year-old Jack believes the room where he lives with his mother is the whole world: there they eat, play and learn. What he doesn't know is that this room is the prison where she has been held for years. The narrative, seen through Jack, shows the bond between mother and son and their survival in extreme confinement.
Originally published in English as Room (2010), the 2014 Portuguese edition was translated by Cristina Correia. The cover indicates it was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize 2010.
For readers of literary fiction and book clubs, as well as for those seeking narratives with a child's voice and psychological tension.
