«Room» is the novel by Emma Donoghue, published by Picador USA in paperback (336 pages, in English).
Jack is five years old and has never left the room where he lives with his mother; for him, that small space is the whole world. Narrated in the child's voice, the novel follows the bond between mother and son in captivity, their routine inside the room, and the longing for freedom when the outside world seeps into their lives.
Room was a finalist for the Man Booker Prize and the Orange Prize, and won, among others, the ALA Alex Award and the Goodreads Choice Award in 2010.
A read for book clubs and for those seeking contemporary literary fiction with a child's voice.
