«Origins» is the essay on human evolution by Richard E. Leakey and Roger Lewin, published by E.P. Dutton in hardcover (264 pages, in English).
Leakey and Lewin examine how prehistoric ape-like creatures became human beings, proposing that cooperation in a social context was the key to that transformation. Drawing on fossils and archaeological findings, they trace the origins of hominids, the development of intelligence and language, and the possible future of our species.
Published in 1977, the volume includes an index and bibliography.
Suitable for readers interested in anthropology, archaeology and human evolution, as well as for the general public with scientific curiosity.
