«Os Pássaros da Noite» is Tormod Haugen's children's and young adult novel, published in Portuguese.
Joakim, an eight-year-old boy, lives with his mother, who works in a store, and his father, a teacher who suffers from depression and cannot teach. At night, black birds escape from his closet and torment him; Mrs. Andersen, a witch, also appears. The novel sensitively portrays the emotional difficulties of childhood.
For children and young readers looking for sensitive stories about fears and everyday life.
Tormod Haugen was a Norwegian writer of children's books and translator. For his "lasting contribution to children's literature" he received the international Hans Christian Andersen Medal in 1990.
