«Palmira i l'efecte crisàlide» is the children's and young adult novel by Gisela Pou, published by Edebé in paperback (204 pages, in Catalan).
Palmira thinks her name sounds like a grandmother: her parents chose city names for their daughters, Viena and Palmira. Putting up with her older sister doesn't stop her from being happy, until she meets another Palmira, a Syrian girl refugee in a camp. The encounter changes everything: a story about identity, friendship and empathy.
Volume 16 of the Tucà Verd collection, with illustrations by Francesc Rovira. First published in 2019.
Recommended for readers aged 10 and up, with a plot that combines family humor with the reality of refugees.
