«Pétra» is Helga Bansch's children's picture book, published by OQO Editora in hardcover (34 pages, in French).
Pétra is a young elephant who rejects her rounded body and dreams of being slim and elegant. Although her mother tells her her curves are a treasure, the mirror doesn't give her the image she wants, so she sets off on a journey full of adventures. On it she meets Serafín, who helps her accept herself as she is. A lesson on self-esteem.
The work is part of the O collection from OQO Editora, published in Pontevedra, and is recommended for readers aged 4 to 8.
It can be used to talk with children about self-esteem, body diversity and self-acceptance.
