Esta edición presenta el corpus completo de las poesías de Fray Luis de León, incluyendo sus obras originales en castellano y neolatín, así como traducciones e imitaciones del hebreo, griego, latín e italiano. Se han excluido atribuciones no justificadas. La estructura se divide en tres libros: Obras propias, Traducciones e imitaciones de autores profanos, y Traducciones de autores sagrados, con un apéndice de poesía neolatina. Cristóbal Cuevas analiza los métodos de datación y el poemario del autor, ofreciendo una comunicación intertextual que explica los poemas mutuamente. Se examinan las traducciones en verso de textos bíblicos, clásicos y romances, manuscritos e impresos. Las notas a pie de página aclaran pasajes difíciles y establecen intertextualidades, cuidando la filiación textual y modernizando la ortografía.
