«Puissance et décadence: Une politique de civilisation» is the philosophical essay by Michel Onfray, published by Bouquins in paperback (456 pages, in French).
Onfray argues that France is not ungovernable but ungoverned: the transfer of sovereignty to the European project since Maastricht has allegedly deprived the nation of its power and driven it to decadence. He denounces the rule of the unelected Commission, the role of the state and citizen passivity, and proposes a politics of civilization against nihilism, appealing to a people to recover its capacity to decide.
Work aimed at readers of political philosophy and those following the French public debate.

Michel Onfray is a French writer and philosopher with a hedonistic, epicurean and atheist worldview. A highly prolific author on philosophy, he has written over 100 books.
