«Recóndita armonía» is the novel by Marina Mayoral, published by Punto de Lectura S.L. in paperback (288 pages, in Spanish).
The novel contrasts Blanca and Helena, two ways of living, during the Second Republic, the Civil War and the postwar period. Blanca grows up with the Galician maids and Bishop don Atilano; Helena, agnostic and daughter of a liberal aristocrat, defends the role of women. Both discover sensuality, injustice, pain and a harmony that gives meaning to life.
Originally published in 1994; this Punto de Lectura edition is from July 2000.
