«Regina Beatissima: the black legend of Isabella the Catholic» is the historical essay by Juan G. Atienza, published by La Esfera de los Libros in paperback (416 pages).
Juan G. Atienza analyzes the dark episodes of Isabella the Catholic's reign: the death of her brother Alfonso, her marriage to Ferdinand of Trastámara, the Inquisition and the expulsion of Jews and Muslims. The work argues that these policies sought a theocratic state and questions the queen's image of sanctity.
