«Retrato de un hombre desnudo» is the autobiography of Juan Cruz Ruiz, published by Alfaguara in paperback (320 pages, in Spanish).
The author portrays himself in solitude, apart from his public image as a sociable and successful man. A photograph of a calm sea gives rise to reflections on the passage of time, pain and death; through memories and characters, the book reconstructs the memory of the past and presents writing as a way of approaching what has been lived.
The work belongs to Alfaguara's Hispánica collection and went on sale in October 2005; the edition includes flaps.
Recommended for adult readers interested in autobiography and contemporary Spanish literature.
