«Romanesque» is the adventure novel by Tonino Benacquista, published by Gallimard in paperback (230 pages, in French).
A French couple on the run across the United States enters a theater, at risk of being arrested, to see a play set in the Middle Ages: two lovers defy the laws of their community. Between stage and reality, the lovers merge and cross centuries and continents. Benacquista weaves an adventure with humor about the transmission of legends.
The novel belongs to Gallimard's Blanche collection and is part of the French literary rentrée of 2016.
For readers of contemporary French fiction seeking a love and adventure story with leaps between the Middle Ages and the present.
