«Sara» is the biblical novel by Sergio Ramírez, published by Alfaguara in paperback (249 pages, in Spanish).
It recreates the biblical story of Sarah and Abraham from her point of view, with irony and humor. It narrates the couple's pilgrimage through hostile lands as they follow the instructions Abraham receives from Yahweh, and the announcement that the elderly and barren Sarah will give birth to a son; it presents her as a lucid, stubborn woman capable of questioning divine designs.
The novel belongs to the Narrativa Hispánica collection. It was originally published in 2015; Sergio Ramírez is a Nicaraguan writer.
For readers of Latin American narrative interested in fiction inspired by the Bible.
