«Seis propuestas para el próximo milenio» is Italo Calvino's collection of essays, published by Círculo de Lectores in hardcover (157 pages, in Spanish).
It brings together the five lectures Calvino prepared to deliver in the United States. It reflects on literature and its essential values through lightness, quickness, exactitude, visibility and multiplicity, as tools for the new millennium. The sixth lecture, on consistency, was never written.
This Spanish edition is dated 2000. The original title of the lectures is «Lezioni americane: sei proposte per il prossimo millennio».
It is especially suitable for readers of literary essays and admirers of Calvino.
