«Smara» is the illustrated book by Paula Carballeira, with illustrations by Carole Hénaff, published by Kalandraka in hardcover (64 pages, in Galician).
The action is set in a desert landscape of dunes where a figure seated on a chair holds an open book, in an image full of stillness. The story, with brief text and suggestive illustrations, leaves room for reflection and the reader's imagination.
Published in 2006, it is part of Kalandraka's Seteleguas collection and was awarded the Isaac Díaz Pardos Prize for Illustrated Book 2006.
Aimed at children and young readers, it belongs to children's and young adult literature and offers a reading that combines text and illustration.
