«Smara» is the illustrated children's story by Paula Carballeira with illustrations by Carole Hénaff, published by Kalandraka in hardcover (64 pages, in Spanish).
The book proposes a lyrical and melancholic journey to the Sahara desert, to Smara, where Grandma Ugago, an old woman with white hair, keeps beautiful and terrible stories in her memory. Her voice reveals the secrets of the culture of the Children of the Clouds and their wisdom, in a tale that celebrates oral tradition and cultural diversity.
It belongs to the Sieteleguas collection. It was awarded the Isaac Díaz Pardo Prize for illustrated books in 2006.
A reading aimed at children and young audiences, to discover cultural diversity and the value of oral tradition.
