«The Distributed Mind» is the business management essay by Kimball Fisher and Mareen Duncan Fisher, published by Amacom Books in hardcover (286 pages, in English).
The book argues that the collective intelligence of knowledge workers functions as a «distributed mind» within the company. Based on hundreds of interviews, it explains how to organize specialists, coordinate dispersed teams, share knowledge and use technology, and proposes the «learning lattice» as an organizational form.
Originally published in October 1997; full subtitle: «Achieving High Performance Through the Collective Intelligence of Knowledge Work Teams».
