«The Little Prince» is the children's and young adult novel by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, published by Egmont Books Ltd in paperback (96 pages, in English).
A pilot, after a forced landing in the Sahara desert, meets a little prince who tells him stories about his planet, with three volcanoes and a vain flower. Through these tales, the work becomes a fable about what is essential in life, accompanied by the author's own illustrations.
The original French title, Le Petit Prince, was published in 1943; this English edition, from 1991, reproduces the classic translation by Katherine Woods and the author's illustrations.
Suitable for readers aged 7 and up, though its nature as a fable for all ages makes it equally valuable for adults.
Antoine Marie Jean-Baptiste Roger, vicomte de Saint-Exupéry, known simply as Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, was a French writer, poet, journalist and aviator.
