«The Party» is the illustrated children's story by David M. McPhail, published by Gateway Learning Corporation in paperback (32 pages, in English).
A boy throws a midnight party with his stuffed animals, who come to life to dance and play music with him. The celebration includes a snack and ends when his father, still sleepy, is invited to join the fun.
It is part of the Hooked on Phonics series as book number 30, a collection for reading instruction.
Suitable for early readers and children in kindergarten and first grade, as support material for learning to read in English.
David Alexander McPhail was a New Zealand comedic actor and writer whose television career spanned four decades. McPhail first won fame on sketch comedy show A Week of It, partly thanks to his impressions of New Zealand prime minister Robert Muldoon. He went on to appear in multiple series of sketch show McPhail and Gadsby, and hit comedy Letter to Blanchy. All three shows featured his longtime friend Jon Gadsby.
