«This Is Life» is the novel by Dan Rhodes, published by Canongate UK in paperback (432 pages, in English).
In Paris, art student Aurélie Renard throws a stone and sets off a chain of events that will turn her life upside down: suddenly she finds herself in charge of a stranger's baby, knowing nothing about childcare. Only the help of her adored professor and her best friend, an armed heartbreaker, will allow her to survive seven extraordinary and calamitous days, while in a cinema in Pigalle a naked man tries to show Paris what it means to be alive.
In 2012 it won the Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize. A novel of humor and satire set in the Parisian art world.
For readers of romantic comedy with a twisted edge, black humor and a satirical view of contemporary Paris.
