Treasure Islands is Pamela Stephenson's travel book in which she sails the South Seas following in the wake of Fanny and Robert Louis Stevenson, published by Headline Book Publishing in hardcover (416 pages, in English).
Pamela Stephenson, wife of Billy Connolly, recounts her voyage across the South Seas inspired by Fanny Stevenson, the intrepid wife of Robert Louis Stevenson. She combines her own adventure aboard a clipper with Fanny's story, and describes encounters with islanders, storms and supposed pirates while exploring reefs, lagoons and customs of Oceania. The narrative weaves together travel, adventure, history and biography of two women united by their fascination with the Pacific.
First hardcover edition. Within the work, Stephenson interweaves her own biography with that of Fanny Stevenson, whom Robert Louis called the "wild woman of the West".
For readers interested in travel narratives of the South Pacific, the figure of Robert Louis Stevenson and biographies of adventurous women. Book in English.
