«Trois carrés rouges sur fond noir» is the crime novel by Tonino Benacquista, published by Folio in paperback (224 pages, in French).
The novel explores the parallels between the history of art and that of crime: from canvas to graffiti, painting appears as a trace and also as a form of violence. That idea runs through a suspenseful police investigation, in which creativity and destruction come dangerously close.
1999 edition, in the Folio Policier collection.
For readers of French noir fiction and for those seeking thrillers with art at the heart of the intrigue.
