«Um crime delicado» is the crime novel by Sérgio Sant'Anna, published by Companhia das Letras in paperback (132 pages, in Portuguese).
In Rio de Janeiro, Antônio Martins, a fifty-something art critic, narrates in the first person his obsession with Inês, a beautiful and mysterious young woman about whom he knows little. When he discovers that she is a model for the artist Vitório Brancatti, he suspects an ambiguous relationship between the two. The work combines crime plot, eroticism, and reflection on art.
«Um crime delicado» was originally published in 1997 and won the 1998 Jabuti Prize for best novel.
A read for those who enjoy contemporary Brazilian narrative and mystery stories with an artistic backdrop.
