«Un chasseur de lions» is the historical adventure novel by Olivier Rolin, published by Seuil in paperback (240 pages, in French).
The novel intertwines the lives of Édouard Manet and Eugène Pertuiset, collector and occasional model for the painter: a French adventurer, lion hunter, magnetizer, explorer and arms dealer. The narrative moves from colonial Algeria to the Paris of Napoleon III and as far as Tierra del Fuego, with echoes of Baudelaire, Zola or Maupassant.
Published in 2008 in Seuil's Fiction et Cie collection, the work competed for the Goncourt, the Médicis and the Renaudot.

Olivier Rolin is a French writer. He won the Prix Femina in 1994, for his novel Port-Soudan.
