«Un destino luminoso» is the biography of Alexandra David-Néel by Jean Chalon, published by Mondadori in hardcover (388 pages, in Spanish).
Jean Chalon reconstructs the life of Alexandra David-Néel, orientalist, explorer, anarchist, Buddhist and writer, and her path towards the peaks of the Himalayas, including the journey that in 1924 took her to Tibet. The biography portrays a woman driven by spiritual quest and a desire for uncertain paths, far removed from definitive things.
This edition appeared in 1999 within the collection Las mil y una voces and bears the subtitle «El camino de Alexandra David-Néel hacia las cumbres del Himalaya».
For readers interested in biographies of female explorers, travel accounts of the Himalayas, and figures of Buddhism and orientalism.
Jean Chalon is a French journalist and writer. He first hesitated before a career as a Spanish teacher before deciding for journalism. He has spent most of his career at Le Figaro.
