«Un monstruo en el armario» is the children's story by Carmen Vázquez-Vigo, published by Ediciones SM in paperback (112 pages, in Spanish).
Jorge hears what his friends' grandfathers know how to do: one makes paper doves, others build kites and ships in bottles. When Jorge's grandfather travels from Argentina to see him, the boy discovers what makes his grandfather special. A story that mixes reality and fantasy and celebrates the value of family.
«Un monstruo en el armario» belongs to the El Barco de Vapor Naranja collection (no. 68). The work received the National Prize for Children's and Young Adult Literature in 1992.
It is recommended reading for children aged 8 to 12, especially for those who enjoy stories about grandfathers, family and fantasy.
