A family in full implosion revolves around Jacques, a stepfather who is mythomaniac, spendthrift, depressive and generous at once. The narrator, her sister Irène and their mother are dragged between France and Ivory Coast by his magnetic and toxic personality. Florence Seyvos portrays him from memory, without idealizing him.
