«Vida de este chico» is Tobias Wolff's autobiographical memoir, published by Alfaguara in hardcover (328 pages, in Spanish).
The author recalls his childhood and adolescence in 1950s America, when, after his parents' divorce, he travelled the country with his mother. The boy Toby, who calls himself Jack in homage to Jack London, grows up among maps, alcohol, fights, friendships and betrayals; a bittersweet and humorous portrait of his formation.
Original title: «This boy's life: A memoir»; translated by Maribel de Juan. First edition 1991, in the Literaturas collection.
For readers of memoirs and contemporary fiction seeking a coming-of-age story set in the United States of the 1950s.
