Vivian und ein Mund voll Erde is a moving novel by author Stefanie Zweig. The story follows Vivian, who, shortly before the outbreak of the Second World War, arrives with her family at a farm near Mount Kenya. There, she is overwhelmed by the beauty of the landscape and quickly befriends the Kikuyu boy Jogona, who becomes her first great love. Through him, she learns to see with her eyes, hear with her ears, and be silent with her mouth. It is a work that explores themes of exile, intercultural friendship, and personal growth in a fascinating and often challenging environment.
