«Y a-t-il des ours en Afrique ?» is a children's picture book by Satomi Ichikawa, published by L'école des loisirs in paperback, in French.
Meto, a little shepherd of the savanna, finds a teddy bear forgotten by a tourist girl and runs to return it to her before her plane takes off. Along the way, the giraffes, hippos and lions join the race, intrigued by this strange creature, in a story about solidarity and encountering difference.
Work originally published in English under the title «The First Bear in Africa!»; the 1998 French edition is a translation.
Picture book designed for early readers, with animal-led illustrations and a narrative pace suited for reading aloud.
