«Yo maté a Kennedy» is the crime novel by Manuel Vázquez Montalbán, published by Editorial Planeta in paperback (184 pages, in Spanish).
Pepe Carvalho, a former communist militant and CIA agent of Galician origin, handles an investigation into the death of John F. Kennedy. What seems like an adventure novel is, at heart, a critique of the commonplaces with which the Spanish left was morally, politically, and sentimentally educated.
First installment of the Pepe Carvalho series, originally published in 1972; this edition dates from 1994.
For readers of crime fiction and the Pepe Carvalho series, and for those seeking a key work of Spanish narrative from the 1970s.
Manuel Vázquez Montalbán was a prolific Spanish writer from Barcelona: journalist, novelist, poet, essayist, anthologue, prologist, humorist, critic and political prisoner as well as a gastronome and an FC Barcelona supporter.
