«Britten: Sinfonia da Requiem / Four Sea Interludes / The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra» is Britten's album released in 2001 on CD.
The CD brings together three orchestral works by Benjamin Britten: the Sinfonia da Requiem, composed in 1940 and rejected by the Japanese government for its Christian connotations; the Four Sea Interludes, symphonic passages based on his opera Peter Grimes; and The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra, commissioned in 1946 for an educational documentary about the instruments.
Performance by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Libor Pešek. Label: Virgin Classics.
Suitable for listeners approaching the orchestra for the first time and for collectors of British classical music.
