«The Romantic Piano Concerto, Vol. 13» is the album by Glazunov and Goedicke performed by Stephen Coombs, released in 1996 by Hyperion, on CD.
Volume 13 of «The Romantic Piano Concerto» includes both piano concertos by Glazunov —No. 1 in F minor and No. 2 in B major— and Goedicke's Concertstück, Op. 11, in its first recording. These are works of brilliant piano writing and late-Romantic orchestration; the Concertstück has a rhapsodic air and a clear Russian flavor.
Stephen Coombs plays with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Martyn Brabbins. Recorded on January 11 and 12, 1996; Hyperion CDA66877, total duration 65'37''.
For classical music enthusiasts and fans of the Romantic piano repertoire, interested in rarely performed works and first recordings.
