«Allumer le chat» is the contemporary novel by Barbara Constantine, published by Points in paperback (261 pages, in French).
Bastos, a pedantic philosopher cat, manages to escape Raymond's rifle and never misses a chance to provoke him. The family around them piles up blunders: the boy plays soccer badly and has eczema on his face, and his father is run over by a two-hundred-kilo deer. An everyday comedy in which domestic chaos borders on the absurd.
The novel originally appeared in 2007; this Points edition is from 2013.
Aimed at readers of contemporary French fiction who enjoy humorous stories and family dynamics.
