«Aman Akbars Harem» is the fantasy novel by Elizabeth Ann Scarborough, published by Fischer Taschenbuch Verlag in paperback (330 pages, in German).
Set in a legendary Orient, the plot follows the pragmatic Princess Rasa, who views the world of the Arabian Nights with a realistic eye. Aman Akbar, an upstart, and his wives —an African princess, a Chinese actress, and Rasa herself— and a philosophical djinn make up a story of humor and magic that subverts the clichés of the classic tale.
It is part of the 'Bibliothek der phantastischen Abenteuer' collection (number 2706) and is the first German edition of the work, published in 1986.
Recommended for readers of ironic and humorous fantasy who enjoy lighthearted retellings of the tales of the Arabian Nights.
Elizabeth Ann Scarborough is an American writer of science fiction and fantasy and Registered Nurse who lives in Port Townsend, Washington. She has published over 40 novels, as well as collaborating with Anne McCaffrey on multiple series.
