«Atala - René - Le Dernier Abencerage» is a volume of three Romantic tales by François-René de Chateaubriand in paperback, in French.
It brings together three foundational tales of Romanticism: «Atala» is set in the forests of America, «René» shows the melancholy and solitude of one who finds no rest, and «Le Dernier Abencerage» evokes an exotic, forgotten Granada from Don Juan. René, Chactas and the last Abencerage herald the existential restlessness of lost generations.
This edition is number 1017 in the Folio classique collection and includes bibliographical references (pp. 255-256).
A work used for school reading in French, intended for secondary school students and readers of nineteenth-century classics.

François-René, vicomte de Chateaubriand was a French writer, politician, diplomat and historian who influenced French literature of the 19th century. Descended from an old aristocratic family from Brittany, Chateaubriand was a royalist by political disposition. He served as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1822 to 1824 and as the French ambassador to Sweden, Prussia, the United Kingdom, and the Papal States.
