«Cantar de Mio Cid» is the anonymous Castilian epic poem in an adaptation by Rosa Navarro Durán, published by edebé in paperback (208 pages, in Spanish).
The story follows Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, the Cid, a knight of the court of Sancho II and later of Alfonso VI of Castile and León, from the latter's exile of him in 1081, and narrates his subsequent deeds. Scholars place its composition at the end of the 12th century, and the work survives in a 14th-century codex in the National Library.
Edition number 1 of the Clásicos para Estudiantes collection, with illustrations by Carles Arbat Serarols.
Aimed at students and young readers from age 12, as a first approach to the classics of medieval Spanish literature.
