«Compañeras de viaje» is the fifth collection of short stories by Soledad Puértolas, published by Editorial Anagrama in paperback (224 pages, in Spanish).
Soledad Puértolas brings together stories in which women accompany a man, husband or lover, on a journey: by car, by train to London, in California, Paris, Seoul or a regatta. Though they seem secondary, these travelers take the floor and reveal dreams, fears and their stubborn determination to be themselves, amid revelations, abandonment and freedom.
«Compañeras de viaje» is number 467 in the Narrativas hispánicas collection; it was published in 2010 and brings together fifteen stories.
A work for readers of contemporary fiction interested in stories with female protagonists and in twenty-first-century Spanish narrative.
Soledad Puértolas Villanueva is a Spanish writer. On 28 January 2010, she was named an inmortal or member of the Real Academia Española. She is a recipient of the Premio Planeta de Novela.
