«Deshonrada» is the autobiography of Mukhtar Mai, published by Punto de Lectura in paperback, in Spanish.
In this testimony, Mukhtar Mai recounts her life in Meerwala (Pakistan) and how, after being sentenced by a tribal council to a gang rape in 2002, she decided not to follow the tradition of suicide and reported her attackers. Her case attracted international attention and made her a symbol of the fight for women's dignity.
The Spanish-language edition was published in 2006. The testimony is set in the village of Meerwala and mentions the conflicts between the Mastoi and Gujjar clans.
For readers interested in memoirs, accounts of overcoming adversity, and women's rights.
