«Don Camilo» is the humorous novel by Giovanni Guareschi, published by Planeta in paperback (272 pages, in Spanish).
In a village on the Po plain, in postwar Italy, the priest Don Camilo and the communist mayor Peppone clash over their opposing ideas. Their amusing conflicts, treated with irony, show a community where political rivalry coexists with mutual help against abuses.
First volume of the Don Camilo series. The work was originally published in 1948; this Spanish edition is from 1993.
Recommended for readers who enjoy social satire, humor and stories of opposing characters who end up understanding each other.
