«El viajero del siglo» is the literary fiction novel by Andrés Neuman, published by Alfaguara in paperback (544 pages, in Spanish).
A mysterious traveler lands in a labyrinthine city from which escape is almost impossible. As he prepares to leave, a chance encounter changes everything: love and literature intertwine. The work dialogues with the nineteenth-century novel and current debates: foreignness, multiculturalism, nationalisms and women's emancipation.
It won the XII Alfaguara Novel Prize (2009) and the Critics' Prize for Castilian Narrative. It belongs to Alfaguara's Hispánica collection.
For readers of literary fiction seeking a novel with historical background, reflections on Europe and a love story at its center.
Andrés Neuman is an Argentine writer, poet, translator, columnist and blogger.
