«Elisabeth, emperatriz de Austria-Hungría» is the historical novel by Ángeles Caso, published by Planeta in paperback (352 pages, in Spanish).
The work focuses on Elisabeth of Bavaria, known as Sissi, empress of Austria-Hungary, from her marriage at 16 to Franz Joseph I and her arrival at court to the conflicts that marked her life. Against the idyllic myth spread by the movies, Ángeles Caso offers an intimate and complex portrait of the empress.
The work was originally published in 1992 under the title «Elisabeth de Austria-Hungría o el hada maldita»; this 2000 edition belongs to Planeta's Éxitos de oro collection.
For readers of historical fiction or biography who want to know the real figure of Sissi, beyond the popularized character.
