The book 'Spaniards in the Holocaust' by David Wingeate Pike tells the story of the Spanish Republicans confined in the Mauthausen concentration camp during World War II. These Spaniards, who had fought in the Spanish Civil War and sought refuge in France, were arrested by German troops after the invasion of France in 1940 and deported to concentration camps. The work highlights how this group managed to occupy key positions in the SS administration and save important documents, earning a high reputation among the other prisoners.
