«Fables» is the collection of fables by Jean de La Fontaine illustrated by Catherine Meurisse, published by Réunion Des Musées Nationaux in hardcover (in French).
It brings together classic fables featuring animals such as the tortoise, the crow, the hare, the ant or the lion, alongside figures like the milk jug. La Fontaine turns the fable tradition into poems that play with language and musicality, with impertinent morals that still connect with today's readers.
The original work dates from 1668; this French edition was published in 2022. The original title is Fables choisies mises en vers.
A reading suitable for children and adults, especially for those who want to discover or revisit the classics of French literature in an illustrated edition.
