«La fuente de la edad» is the novel by Luis Mateo Díez, published in paperback (408 pages, in Spanish).
In a provincial city during the 1950s, a brotherhood more given to drinking and the esoteric than to penance embarks on a ridiculous search for a mythical fountain that grants eternal youth. The novel thus becomes a fable about the human condition and the desire to escape a limited reality.
Edition by Santos Alonso in the Letras Hispánicas collection; originally published in 1986, it won the Premio de la Crítica and the Premio Nacional de Literatura.
